Dhaka: Boat races such as the one along the Buriganga last week have taken place in Bangladesh for centuries. Thousands flocked to witness the traditional nouka baich - or boat race - at Basila and Munshiganj in Dhaka, the Bangladeshi capital.

London: The images of the race along a one kilometre stretch of the river reminiscent of festive scenes that took place earlier this year thousands of miles away in London to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
