Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, well known as city of fine muslin, mosques and rickshaws has a fairly long history of evolution. Before it rose into prominence as Mughal capital of Bengal in 17th century and urban & commercial centre, it was under the Sultanates from 14 century. It came under British control in 1757. Dhaka with passage of time testify different faces of history. Photographs and digital archives are the most effective ways that can keep visual records of its colourful history.
Views of people living around: It’s residential complex of a religious leader cum business tycoon, a charismatic person with high connection abroad and widely traveled “Sher e khoda khawaja-----“, a follower of Khawaja baba of Ajmeer Sharif. Very little is known about him for certainty, how he got allotment of plot so deep inside the lake. The impressive complex was probably built in early ‘90s. Local Media however remained mum about him.
WOW. I had no idea! Thanks for sharing this Mr. Ahmed. I had the same question for long. Anyways, nice work with April 08, but I guess still more to come..right?
I haven't seen many pictures about Uttara from you. Actually, my home is in Uttara Sector 13. Are you going to do something on it? Wishing you all the best and good health.
Loved the pictures of Pohela Boishakh! Oh! The couple in rickshaw was a master piece. It brings back memories from 1993 when I was in Dhaka, Bally Road. Thanks again.
