Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, well known as city of fine muslin, mosques and rickshaws has a fairly long history of evolution. Before it rose into prominence as Mughal capital of Bengal in 17th century and urban & commercial centre, it was under the Sultanates from 14 century. It came under British control in 1757. Dhaka with passage of time testify different faces of history. Photographs and digital archives are the most effective ways that can keep visual records of its colourful history.

Intercity express train ‘egarosindor’ was set on fire in Narsingdi town on Wednesday during demonstrations by the Bangladesh Chhatra League and 72 hours strike call given to protest the murder of 43 years old Lokman Hossain, 2 times gold-medalist and a mayor rare personality of Narsingdi municipality. Many passengers received injuries while jumping off the burning train. Activists also blocked the highway, disrupting communications between Dhaka and four other cities, including Chittagong and Sylhet upsetting train and bus schedule causing sufferings to the Eid holiday home bound passengers.
According to media report, a group of 9 masked gunmen entered AL office with sophisticated weapons and shot dead Lokman Hossain point blank at the town office Narsingdi AL on 2nd Nov 2011 at around 8:00pm. A gloom prevail in the municipality (media news and pic).
