Tense moment before declaration of exam result



Students Viqarunnessa School and College, Dhaka rejoice over their success rate

13,96,599 students sat for the Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate exam from eight education boards and the madrasa education board and 10,20,047 passed the examinations. 71.34 percent candidates in Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations and 81.03 percent in Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations have passed.

In the Terminal Exam (Class V) 17,91,651 students appeared and the success rate is 92.34%

Commodity price remain high:

Fine rice like Paijam and Nazirshail being sold at Tk.45-48/- p.kg while the IRRI coarse variety at Tk.33-34/-p.kg. Sugar selling Tk 52-54/-p.kg. Loose Soybean oil sold at Tk.105/- p.kg while Palm at Tk.92/-.

Price of onion is too pungent to buy- sells at Tk80/- p.kg

Transparency International of Bangladesh (TIB) high-ups sued:

Three defamation cases were filed against Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Chairman M Hafizuddin Khan, Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman and Senior Fellow Wahid Alam for "demeaning the judiciary."

The Berlin-based international corruption watchdog’s 'Bangladesh chapter' in their household survey report said about 88 per cent of people seeking help from the judiciary were in one way or the other made victims of corruption that increased by 40.3 per cent over three years.

The TIB in its latest survey, conducted on 6,000 households, found that of the people who approached the judiciary for services between June 2009 and May this year, a staggering 88 percent faced corruption and harassment. About 11 percent of the surveyed households that received services from the judiciary paid on average Tk 7,918 bribe each.
