I like the building photos. Can we see some photos of the new glass buildings on Gulshan avenue, Kamal Attaturk Avenue and Mohakhali? When I was visiting Dhaka last time I saw a lot of buildings under construction. I am sure most of them are built now. I would love to see all the new glass/steel buildings in Mohakhali, Banani and Gulshan.

OPERATION DEMOLITION: PART II

There should be ZERO TOLERANCE for any illegal structure obstructing the free flow of rain and monsoon water through the HATIR JHEEL WATERWAY PROJECT. This is strictly an environmental and an ecological issue. BGMEA should not be above LAW.

It is sad that the outgoing illegitimate CTG didnt bring down the illegal BGMEA structure encroaching upon the HATIR JHEEL PROKOLPO. It should be immediately brought down to make way for the actual implementation of the much sought after waterway, drainage and reservir project project i and around Dhaka city.

The BGMEA bhaban should have been demolished along with the RANGS bhaban.

Similar eco-friendly measures to save GULSHAN LAKES from illegal grabbing by landfilling at night and possesion by land- robbers must immediately be undertaken by the democratic elected government. All illegal structures on boh sides of the GULSHAN LAKES should be destroyed just like the RANGS and BGMEA bhaban to send a clear message to criminals and thugs both inside the government and the private sector.

On a different note, The garments owners should be heavily penalized if they cheat the workers which has become a common practice in Bangladesh. The owners basically have no social responsibility for the workers. The garments workers are anaemic, suffers from malnutrition, have no proper healthcare (forget health insurance!) or sanitation, and basically 10-12 mainly female workers live huddled together in 8-10 square feet room without proper ventilation, lighting and hygiene in slums and squalor strewn areas.

The owners hardly have any moral obligation for the safety of the workers as spelled out in the ILO convention. They should also be severely punished if they pollute the environment by discharging raw waste into the nearby channels, creeks and rivers. It should be absolutely mandatory for them to install refuse treatment plants at the industrial areas.

The government should put down the man-made disturbances with iron hand first. Then it should put police in charge of the security of the garments sector until a well-trained industrial police force is built with public-private partnership in a one to two year period. It is also necessary to screen the male employees through a background check. These people should have punch cards to let them in.

The garments industry and any EPZ should be an area with zero tolerance for violence. Male employment in this sector should be capped at less than 5%.

Having read this I believed it was very informative.

I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this content together.
I once again find myself spending a lot of time both reading and commenting.
But so what, it was still worth it!
